Core Repositories

ODP maintained four core repositories from 1985 to 2003. Please see the IODP Core Redistribution Plan for the current location of cores.

Bremen Core Repository

The Bremen Core Repository (BCR), located at the University of Bremen in Bremen, Germany, housed ODP cores from the Atlantic Ocean and the Black and Mediterranean Seas.

East Coast Repository

The East Coast Repository (ECR), located at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York, USA, housed DSDP and ODP cores from the Atlantic and Southern Oceans and the Black, Caribbean, and Mediterranean Seas.

Gulf Coast Repository

The Gulf Coast Repository (GCR), located at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, USA, housed ODP cores collected from the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

West Coast Repository

The West Coast Repository (WCR), located at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, California, USA, housed DSDP cores from the Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Red Sea.
